We’ve been sitting on a secret at Orrest Head House for a while.
Now it’s out.
In late May 2026, we’re opening The Loft — a brand new sixth bedroom at Orrest Head House. And it’s a proper one.

Here’s what you’re looking at.
King-size bed. Freestanding bath. Separate shower. Its own en-suite.
Every bedroom at Orrest Head House has always had its own bathroom. The Loft raises that bar.
This is the kind of room someone books specifically. The kind where you argue over who gets it. We’d suggest settling it with a coin toss — or just booking early.
Why now?
Orrest Head House has always punched hard. A Grade II listed building dating back to 1672. Your own private bar — Josiah Brown’s. Two bedrooms with in-room baths overlooking the gardens. Grounds big enough to get properly lost in.
But we always wanted a sixth bedroom that earned its place. One that felt like a destination in itself. Not just another room.
The Loft is that room.
What this means for your group.
Orrest Head House now sleeps up to 14 guests across six individually styled bedrooms. Every single one with its own en-suite. No sharing. No queues. No arguments about the bathroom.
And if you need more room still, Orrest Head Cottage sits in the same grounds and the two properties can be booked together. That’s up to 20 guests in one private setting — with a footpath to one of the Lake District’s finest short walks right at the gate.
One more thing.
The Orrest Head walk. It starts at our gate. Wainwright loved it. We love it. Guests who’ve done it always come back saying the same thing — the views from the top are something else.
