Number One has nine beds across six bedrooms, and Bedroom 1 can be split into two singles with a week’s notice. So a team of up to ten can each have their own bed. Bigger groups share. Either way, everyone has somewhere proper to switch off after a long day in sessions.

We’re set up for it. There’s a 4-oven AGA, a full electric range cooker, and an American fridge-freezer with ice machine. Working lunches, evening meals, breakfast briefings — hand it all off to a caterer and focus on the work.

Teams coming from across the country? No problem. There’s private parking on site for six cars, and Windermere train station is a two-minute walk away. Getting everyone in one place is straightforward.

WiFi covers the whole house on a mesh system, so you can work from any room.
How many people can stay overnight, and will everyone get their own bed?

Can you invoice our company, and do you charge VAT?
Yes. We’re VAT registered and can invoice your company directly. Your company may be able to recover the VAT.
Can we hire Number One for a single day meeting without staying?
It’s possible, but it means taking the house off the market for that day and the days around it for cleaning. With our mid-week prices, a day hire often isn’t much cheaper than a full break. Talk to us and we’ll see what we can do.
Can we bring in outside caterers?
Yes. The kitchen has a 4-oven AGA, an electric range cooker and an American fridge-freezer with an ice machine, so caterers have everything they need. Once you’ve booked, we’re happy to put you in touch with local caterers.
How do people get there?
Windermere station is a two-minute walk from the house, with connections to the West Coast main line at Oxenholme. There’s private parking on site for six cars and an EV charger.
What time can we arrive and leave?
Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10am. For an away-day, that means you can arrive in the afternoon, run your sessions over the following days, and head off the morning you leave.
How do payment and cancellation work?
A 25% non-refundable deposit is paid when you book, and the balance is due eight weeks before arrival. A £400 damage deposit is pre-authorised on a card seven days before arrival and released three days after departure, as long as there’s no damage.
Is Number One accessible?
There are five steps up to the front door, and all the bedrooms are upstairs. If anyone in your team has access needs, call us on 0330 088 4086 and we’ll talk you through the layout.
Can we do team activities nearby?
Yes. The Orrest Head walk starts just across the road. It’s a short climb to one of the best views in the Lake District. Windermere village, the lake and plenty of outdoor activities are all close by.
