The Stag Weekend Grew Up. So Did the Venue.

A grown up stage do in the Lakes

Looking for a stag weekend house in the Lake District? Bannerrigg in Windermere sleeps 16 in single beds, with a private 7-seat hot tub, an 18-seat cellar cinema and an oak dining table for 18. It’s a two-minute walk from the village pubs and Windermere station.

You’re not 25 anymore. Nobody wants to share a bunk bed in a city-centre flat. Nobody wants a club night that ends at 6am. Nobody wants to spend Sunday feeling like they’ve been wrung out.

What you actually want is this.

Sixteen of you. A Grade II listed house in the Lake District. A 7-seat hot tub in its own building in the garden. An 18-seat cinema in the cellar. A 3-oven AGA in the kitchen. A dining table that seats 18.

That’s Bannerrigg.

The stag weekend, done properly.

Bannerrigg sits on The Terrace in Windermere. Two minutes’ walk from the village. Two minutes from Booths if someone needs to do a proper shop. The kind of house that makes you stop in the doorway when you arrive.

It sleeps 16. There’s room for everyone.

What does a 40-plus stag actually look like?

It looks like a long breakfast on Saturday morning. Eggs from the AGA. Good coffee. No rush. The kind of morning you’ve earned.

It looks like a walk. The Lake District is the UK’s adventure playground. Get out in it. Orrest Head is on the doorstep. Hire a bike. Do a swim at Miller Ground. Get some proper air in your lungs before the evening starts.

It looks like a proper dinner at the big oak table. All 16 of you. Good food, good wine, a few speeches nobody will ever repeat in public.

Then it looks like the hot tub. And then the cinema downstairs. Pick something good. The seats are comfortable. There’s no curfew.

Why the Lake District?

Because it’s different. No package-holiday sameness. No concrete and noise. Just hills, water, and wide open space.

Windermere village has brilliant restaurants — Homeground for breakfast, Hooked for fresh fish, The Crafty Baa for a drink and some sharing plates (The AA Best Pub of the Year winner, since you’re asking).

You can do as much or as little as you like. That’s the whole point.

The honest bit.

Bannerrigg isn’t a party house with thin walls and plastic furniture. It’s a proper house, treated with proper care. We ask that guests treat it that way too.

But that’s not a problem for a group like yours. You’re past the stage of needing reminding.

Book it. Do it properly. Make the memories.

Don’t wait for the right moment. Book the weekend. It’ll be the right moment.

Bannerrigg is available for weekends, mid-week breaks, or full weeks. Book direct at theterracewindermere.co.uk — no booking fee, no commission, just us.

Frequently asked questions

How many people does Bannerrigg sleep?
Bannerrigg sleeps 16 across five bedrooms. Every bedroom has single beds, so nobody ends up sharing a double with the best man.

Is Bannerrigg OK for a stag weekend?
Yes. We welcome groups of friends. It’s a proper house, looked after properly, and we ask the same of our guests.

Is there a curfew?
No. Quiet hours are 10pm to 8am, and that’s really about noise outside. The hot tub closes at 10pm and the garden goes quiet so the neighbours can settle. Inside, carry on at a sensible level.

Tell me about the hot tub.
It seats seven and has its own stone building in the garden. It’s set to 38°C and the water is changed between every group. Plastic glasses only, 20 minutes a session, and nobody goes in alone. It closes at 10pm. There’s a noise monitor in the hot tub area. It measures volume only and records nothing.

What’s the cinema like?
It’s in the cellar, with 18 seats, a 75″ Smart TV and a soundbar. Bring your own Netflix or Prime login. When you leave, log out through “Get Help” rather than just signing out.

Can we cook for 16?
Easily. There’s a 3-oven AGA plus a range cooker, two fridge-freezers (one with an ice maker) and a dishwasher. The oak dining table seats 18 and the kitchen table seats another 8. The BBQ is out from April to October. Bring your own charcoal.

Can we get a supermarket delivery?
Yes. Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Tesco and Asda all deliver to the house regularly. Booths is also about 300m away if someone needs to nip out.

How far is it to the pubs?
Windermere village is about a two-minute walk, downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back. Lakeside Taxis are on 015394 88888.

Can we come by train?
Yes. Windermere station is a couple of minutes’ walk away and connects to the West Coast line at Oxenholme.

Is there parking at Bannerrigg?
Yes. Bannerrigg has off-road parking for 8 cars. It also has its own EV charger, which you use through the EVpro app at 50p per kWh. Charging from a 13-amp socket isn’t allowed.

Is there WiFi?
Yes, throughout the house.

Can we smoke or vape at Bannerrigg?
Yes, outside. Smoking and vaping aren’t allowed anywhere inside the house.

What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10am sharp. You’re welcome to leave the cars on site for a while after you check out if you want one last walk.

How do payments and the deposit work?
The balance is due eight weeks before you arrive. A £400 damage deposit is pre-authorised on your card seven days before arrival and released three days after you leave, as long as there’s no damage.

What is there to do?
The Orrest Head walk starts right across the road. You can swim at Miller Ground, hire bikes, or do nothing at all.

Why book direct?
There’s no booking fee and no commission. You deal with us directly.
